Research Fellows post
The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital Department of Urology is a forward-looking and expanding teaching hospital department providing specialist urological cancer centre services for Liverpool and surrounding areas, a large tertiary referral kidney stone practice with the busiest lithotripter in the country and a dedicated diagnostic treatment centre for urological diagnosis and two full-time Diagnostic Consultant Urologists in addition to the team of Consultant Urological Surgeons.
The appointment is for one year in the first instance.
Uro-oncology Research Fellow
Supervised by Mr Cornford (Urological Surgeon) and Professor Ke. this post will be run jointly with The University of Liverpool. It includes involvement with tissue collection and the opportunity to be involved with an ongoing research project into biomarkers in prostate cancer. In addition the department is involved with both commercial trials and NCRI badged studies. Subject to satisfactory progress there may be the opportunity to continue the research for a higher degree extension of the contracts as appropriate.
Whilst the posts are not formally recognized as training posts by the postgraduate dean, opportunities may be available depending on level of experience and the balance of clinical time and research time agreed. The on-call duties will involve covering the elective surgical unit at Broadgreen Hospital 1 in 6 without acute surgical take.
