The RLH IT PMO Department are looking for an experienced IT Programme Manager on a 2 year fixed term basis to lead and deliver a Digital Pathology solution for the Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance which spans 7 laboratories, across the North West. The Royal Liverpool Hospital has successfully won the bid to host this new technological solution that will transform and improve the Pathology service for the region.
The Cheshire and Merseyside (C&M) STP is made up of local planning footprints called Local Delivery Systems (LDSs) spanning Clinical Commissioning Groups, Local Authorities and providers within the locality.
This bid represents a significant opportunity to develop a new diagnostic model. This will deliver sustainable benefits and act as a platform for cost effective approaches to diagnostics that can be extended to other tumour groups and diseases for the 2.6m population.
The main objectives of the project and advantages to patients in Merseyside and Cheshire of implementing this digital pathology proof of concept are:
• Equity of access for all patients to the specialist support and expertise available in laboratories across the Network
• Available peer support for pathologists to facilitate early diagnosis
• Develop an efficient process for the referral and discussion of patients at multidisciplinary meetings
• Create a platform for implementing advances in diagnostic technology in the future
• Create a platform for distributing the ‘routine’ workload of cellular pathology laboratories between centres, mitigating imbalances between workload and capacity in individual laboratories that are currently managed by employing locums or outsourcing.

In conjunction with the current development of a brand new state of the art hospital being built at the back of the current site, it’s a really exciting time to be part of the RLH team.

Individuals will be required to travel as part of their role, to other NHS sites as part of the PMO service that we deliver, the Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance spans across 7 laboratories throughout the North west.
